WHEELING, WV -

Sharon L. "Shari" Potter of Spilman Thomas & Battle has been appointed member in charge of the law firm's Wheeling office.

Potter, who holds degrees from Vanderbilt University and the California Western School of Law, succeeds David R. Croft at the Wheeling office, which opened in 2006.

Croft will continue to manage his growing full-time law practice at Spilman.

Potter is leader of the firm's White Collar Criminal Defense & Compliance Group. Her law practice focuses on internal corporate investigation, white-collar criminal defense and complex litigation. She also is a member of The Battle Group, a group of highly experienced Spilman trial lawyers.

Potter served as U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of West Virginia from 2006 to 2009. She is admitted to practice law in West Virginia and Pennsylvania.

Spilman, founded in 1864, also has offices in Charleston and Morgantown in West Virginia as well as in Pennsylvania (Harrisburg and Pittsburgh), North Carolina (Winston-Salem) and Virginia (Roanoke).
