CHARLESTON, WV (AP) -

With a weather smorgasbord forecast for West Virginia, Appalachian Power is positioning crews and contractors around the state.

The National Weather Service says snow, ice, rain and freezing rain is expected to arrive Sunday and continue into Monday. The state is under a winter storm watch.

Meteorologists say the storm will arrive as rain, then turn to freezing rain and snow late Sunday. Snowfall could measure from several inches to up to 10 inches.

Appalachian Power says it's moving crews into areas of the state that are expected to be hit the hardest. The utility is advising residents to prepare for power outages by assembling an emergency kit, batteries, flashlights, candles and matches.

Customers who lose service can report it by calling 1-800-982-4237.
