UPDATE: Several vehicles and tractor trailers collided along I77 in Jackson County, WV; drivers advised to USE CAUTION

All lanes have reopened according to Jackson County 911 dispatchers.

UPDATE:

Jackson County 911 dispatchers confirmed at least five, separate accidents took place Sunday evening along a stretch of I-77 north between mile markers 154 and 149. Several tractor trailers and passenger cars were involved. The cause for most of the crashes seemed to be ice related according to dispatchers. One lane was reopened and traffic began flowing slowly.

At least two tractor trailers and two passenger vehicles have collided on a stretch of Interstate 77 according to Jackson County 911. 

The accident happened on I77 Northbound between the Silverton and Medina exists just before 8 p.m. on Sunday, March 3.  The northbound lanes are shut down at this time. Southbound lanes remain open. 

Dispatchers tell us that many areas of Jackson County are extremely icy.

Travel in this area of I77 should be avoided if possible.
