UPDATE: New Information Released in Deadly Mercer County Accident

UPDATE: Mercer County Deputies held a press conference Thursday releasing new information about a deadly accident in Brushfork that claimed the lives of two children.

28-year-old Terri Wright of Glen Lyn, Virginia was injured and taken to the hospital after her 2000 Chevy Corsica was struck twice by two different vehicles on Route 52 in Brushfork Wednesday night.

Two small children died as a result of the crash.

According to deputies both children were buckled into age appropriate safety seats at the time of the accident. 

Harold Brown of Bramwell, driver of a Ford Truck involved in the accident, suffered a back injury and was also transported to the hospital.

Brown has since been released from the hospital.

Another person, Jackson Carter of Princeton was also involved in the accident.

Carter was driving a Toyota Rav 4 but didn't request treatment following the accident.

The crash will remain under investigation by the Mercer County Sheriff's Department and the West Virginia State Police to determine a cause of the accident.

Out of respect for the victim's families, 59News is choosing not to air video or pictures of wreckage, and also at the request of the Mercer County Sheriff's Department.



Mercer County Deputies, Bluewell Fire Department and Bluefield Rescue Squad responded to the scene a three car accident. Mercer County deputies have confirmed that two children are dead.

The accident occurred on Route 52 in front of Deliverance Temple near Brushfork. The road was closed down and was reopened shortly after 10 P.M.

Crews on scene tell 59 News that one driver had to be cut from a car. Several people sustained injuries. Three people were taken to Bluefield Regional Medical Center and one person was taken to Princeton Community Hospital. 

Mercer County Deputies are investigating.
