The West Virginia State Police, with a request from both the Maryland State Police and the Baltimore County Police Department, have issued an AMBER ALERT on a child who went missing out of Maryland Thursday morning.

According to the WV State Police, Caitlyn Marie Virts, 11, was last seen in Dundalk, MD, with her father Timothy Virts, 38, at 7 a.m. Thursday, March 6.

Authorities say Virts has ties to both McDowell and Preston Counties in West Virginia.  WV State Police here are working with Maryland authorities.

Police say Timothy Virts, who is wanted as a possible murder suspect in a case involving Bobbie Jo Cortez of Dundalk, MD, was last seen with his daughter driving a 1999 black Dodge Durango with a MD tag of 5AJ4458

The Durango is actually registered to Cortez' husband, Daniel Williams Cortez, 38, who is being held at the Baltimore County Detention Center on various sex offense charges.  It is not known if he has any connection to Virts.

Police believe Virts abducted his daughter, and are concerned for her safety because she is not supposed to be with her father.

According to a news release issued by the Baltimore County Police Department, Bobbie Jo Cortez was found dead in her bedroom at 9:13 a.m. Thursday, at the 3100 block of Ardee Way in Dundalk by police and fire crews, who responded to the scene after being contacted by someone else living in the house.  Soon after this, at 10:46 a.m., the AMBER ALERT was issued.

The news release says that Cortez lived in her home with Caitlyn, along with Caitlyn's twin sister and her son, as well two other adults.

According to the news release, Cortez had allowed Timothy Virts to live in the home for the past several weeks.

Caitlyn is described as 5'0, 80 lbs., wearing unknown clothing, while Timothy is described as 6'3, 280 lbs., also wearing unknown clothing.

If anyone comes in contact with Caitlyn and Timothy Virts, do not take action that will endanger yours or the child's safety.

If anyone has any information on their whereabouts, contact the WV State Police at 304-746-2100, the Baltimore County Police Department at 410-887-7320 or call 911.
