Huntington Police charged five women with prostitution after running a sting on Sixth Avenue between First and Sixth streets.

The sting was arranged in response to numerous complaints from residents and business owners in the area.

Taken into custody Thursday, March 6, were Tammy Eagle, 44; Crystal Hardy, 30, and Celeste Pierce, 35, each charged with third-offense prostitution, and Jessica Hinkle, 27, and Sabrina Morrison, 43, both charged with first-offense prostitution. All are Huntington residents.

City officials said each of the women approached the undercover officer and offered sexual acts in exchange for money.

The warmer weather has brought an increase in prostitution activity in the area as well as a spike in calls to the department's anonymous tip line, Capt. Rocky Johnson said. He said enforcement activities will continue through the spring and into the summer.

The Police Department's anonymous crime tip line is 304-696-4444.
