Assistant Vice President, Treasury Management,
United Bank
Charleston, 29

Megan Alldridge is one of those people who didn't set out to have the career she's in, but she enjoys it anyway.

Alldridge works on the sales side with corporate customers, state and local governments, local nonprofits and unions in United Bank's Charleston, Cabell-Wayne, Logan-Boone and Beckley markets.

"I never knew that I would be a banker," Alldridge said. "It's been something I really enjoy, particularly on my side of the business. I enjoy the relationships I build."

She joined United seven years ago as a part-time teller while attending West Virginia University. She held that job for seven months, then became a personal banker for a little over a year. After graduating from WVU, she took a job in Chicago but decided she would rather live in West Virginia, so she came back for her current job at United.

When she moved to Charleston in 2008, a coworker invited her to a Junior League event. That led to her joining the local group, and now she is in her second term as its president, following one term as president-elect and time as the League's provisional development chair.

Alldridge also is treasurer of the Mountaineer Montessori School, and she is in her third year as a Read Aloud West Virginia volunteer. Alldridge coached volleyball three years at the Charleston Volleyball Club, and she's a certified volleyball official with the West Virginia Secondary Schools Activities Commission.

She's also a board member of the Education Elevators Foundation and mentors a second-grade student at Piedmont Elementary School in Charleston.

The Education Elevators Foundation finds students and provides them with mentors who can elevate them into becoming productive members of society and their communities, Alldridge said.

The girl Alldridge mentors is part of the school's accelerated learning program. A half hour each week, the two sit and talk, or play board games or sometimes play basketball.
