    Nine Martinsburg, West Virginia, residents and another from Keyser were sentenced to federal prison for breaking the law while they were on supervised release or probation.

Political columnist Cal Thomas and National Review editor Rich Lowry are among the speakers who will be taking part in West Liberty University's Economics Club annual speaker series.

Planned University Economics Club events in upcoming weeks include:

  • April 3: Columnist and Author Cal Thomas
  • May 22: Wheeling Native Chris Stirewalt, Digital Politics Editor at Fox News
  • June 26: Rich Lowry, Editor of National Review
  • July 24: Joy Pullmann, Research Fellow at The Heartland Institute. 

All events are open to the public and begin at noon at River City in downtown Wheeling.

Funded through a grant from BB&T, the University Economics Club is sponsored by the Center for Economic Philosophy at West Liberty University, chaired by Erik Root, associate professor of Political Science. It seeks to engage faculty, students and the public in serious and sustained examination of the free market.
