A man was arrested and charged for two counts of child neglect creating risk of injury after letting both his son and niece ride in a car with both him and a female drunk driver, who was also arrested.

According to a criminal complaint issued by the Kanawha County Magistrate Court, Brandon Michael Sayles, 20, was arrested Saturday, March 8.

The complaint says that police spotted a vehicle driving in the area of Keller Drive and 7th Avenue in Charleston with no lights on at all on the vehicle's back end.

After the vehicle was stopped, police found the driver, Ariel Amber Hill, 21, intoxicated and arrested her for aggravated DUI, along with DUI with a minor(s) in the vehicle.

According to the criminal complaint, the front passenger, Sayles, was also intoxicated, and had his four-year-old son and niece sleeping in the back seat.  When police ran a check on Sayles, they found he had a capias for domestic assault, and was also arrested.

The complaint goes on to say that Hill told police that Sayles had her drive the vehicle, knowing both had been drinking.

Both are being held in the South Central Regional Jail.  Sayles' bond was set at $5,000 for the child neglect charges, as well as $500 cash only bond for the domestic assault charge.  Hill's bond was set at $2,000.
