Posted: Updated:

An abduction that sparked an Amber Alert in West Virginia ended on Friday morning with the suspect in custody and the 11-year-old boy found safe.

Lucas Ezra Silas Guinn of Lebanon, VA was believed to be in extreme danger after he was taken from Lebanon Middle School on Thursday, March 20.  Virginia State Police said he was taken by his father, Jimmy Donald Guinn.

Troopers believed that Guinn could have been headed for West Virginia or Ohio in a purple Freightliner truck.  The Amber Alert lasted until Friday morning, when Jimmy Guinn was found in Washington County, VA.  According to the Washington County Sheriff, Guinn was getting out a truck on Industrial Park Road when deputies found him.

Russell County Sheriff Steve Dye extended his sincere appreciation to the public for their vigilance during the AMBER Alert activation and the many tips and leads called in to assist with the search.   He also sent special thanks to the Washington County Sheriff's deputy for his vigilance in spotting the vehicle fitting the description in the Amber alert.

Jimmy Guinn, 67, has been taken into custody and is being held in the Southwestern Regional Jail in Virginia.  He is charged with Parental Abduction and Felony Cruelty to Child in One's Custody. Sheriff Dye also thanked Federal Bureau of Investigations, U.S. Marshals Service, and Michigan State Police for their assistance.

The Amber Alert has been updated to say that the suspect may have changed vehicles to a large style burgundy pickup diesel truck.

Officials still believe Guinn could be heading towards West Virginia or Ohio.
