CHARLESTON, WV -

It has been a wild week for neighbors on Charleston's West Side after four shootings stemming back to Monday.  13 News has learned that all of these shootings are happening between two families.

The latest shooting happened around 1:30 p.m. Sunday, March 30, on Stuart Street.  Police say DJ Carter and Dante Davis fired shots at one another.  Both were sent to area hospitals, Carter with a wound to the torso and Davis with a wound to the leg.

A neighbor said, "We looked out the window, we saw the younger boy run this way in.  Next thing you know, there were cops flying everywhere."

Carter was released from the hospital Sunday night.  He was immediately arrested by Charleston police and charged with malicious wounding and wanton endangerment.  At last check, Davis was still in the hospital recovering.  No word yet if he will face any charges.

Levi Carter was also arrested Sunday after police spotted him walking down a West Side street.  Levi Carter and DJ Carter, a suspect arrested Sunday, are cousins, police said.  Levi Carter was wanted for questioning after a shooting on Monday, March 24, that started this string of violence.

On that day, there were three separate shooting scenes.  They all occurred around Littlepage Terrace.   Two people were shot, Andre Lee and Micha Crawford.

When police spotted Carter walking down the street Sunday, he was with Michael Harris.  Harris told police he had a gun on his waist, and as a result, he is charged with carrying a concealed weapon without a permit.  Carter is charged with two counts of cocaine distribution, and his federal probation was revoked.  Carter is also being questioned by Charleston police regarding that initial Monday shooting.

On Tuesday, March 25, Charleston police investigated what they called a "gun battle" on Red Oak Street on the West Side hill.  Justin Davis and Eric Adams were arrested in connection with that shooting.   No one was injured.  Andre Lee, a victim in Monday's initial shooting, is a cousin to Justin Davis and Donte Davis.

Moving along to Wednesday, March 26, Charleston police executed a search warrant on a house on Orchard Street.  Inside, they found drugs and drug paraphernalia, live rounds, and in a car outside, an AK-47.  Police told us they believe that gun is connected to Monday's initial shooting.

Detectives with the Charleston police department said all of this recent violence stems back to these two families, the Carter family and the Davis family.  All of the suspects, detectives said, are either a Carter or a Davis.

Lt. Steve Cooper with the Charleston Police Department said, "This series of incidences are all connected to the same groups, the same feuding parties.  The way to end this violence is to prosecute all of them."

He added that those involved in these crimes have a blatant disregard for public safety.  "They have all proven to be dangerous.  So, we're locking them up.  Hopefully, that will resolve it."

"There are a lot of kids on this block, they need to stop," a neighbor said.

Now, there are a total of five people in custody and four victims of these shootings, and police tell us this investigation is ongoing.
