Charleston Police arrested a husband and wife on Thursday, April 3. The couple own the Middle East Mart, next to the transit mall in Charleston, WV.

According to police the wife, Khitam Ghoul, would get thieves to steal items from the Charleston Town Center and then she would resell the items. The thieves who stole the items would then get a cut. Police were calling this a retail crime organization.

The stolen items included a handbag, CDs and even food.  The estimated value of the stolen items topped out at $700,000. Police also found cash and drugs inside the store. The Kanawha-Charleston Health Department closed down the business Friday morning.

According to Charleston Police, rain water was coming through the roof of the Middle East Mart.
