Kanawha Charleston Health Dept. to take legal action over chemical spill

Posted: Updated:

The Kanawha-Charleston Health Department has decided to join the city of Charleston to file lawsuits over the Jan. 9 chemical spill.

Officials say they want to recover $200,000 the health department has already spent on the water crisis and will join the city to take any and all legal actions.

The decision was made during an executive session at an emergency board meeting Tuesday.

Board members also spoke about a water survey they have been conducting since last Thursday. Officials say they have called over 2,000 homes and received about 420 responses.

The original goal of the survey was to get 300 responses. The survey ends April 8 at 9:00 and results will be posted in about a month.
