According to the Western Regional Jail, Ray A. Davis was arrested Thursday, April 17, and was charged with two counts of nighttime burglary, one count of daytime breaking and entering, one count of accessory to breaking and entering, two counts of petit larceny, and one count of receiving or transferring stolen property under $1,000.

Davis is being held in the Western Regional Jail on a $2,225,000 bond.



A Huntington, WV man told police that he shot a man who was trying to burglarize his home on April 10.

The suspect, Ray A. Davis, was found when Saint Mary's Medical Center responded to a police advisory looking for someone with a gunshot wound, according to a release from the Cabell County Sheriff's Office.

The victim called police at about 2 a.m. and told police that after the shooting Davis left the scene in a car parked a short distance from the home.

The hospital told police that Davis was incoherent when he as brought to the hospital by relatives.  Those relatives told police that Davis said he was shot while trying to rob a home.

Davis had surgery to remove shot gun pellets from his abdomen and is expected to fully recover.  Warrants have been issued against Davis and deputies are staying with him at the hospital.
