CHARLESTON, WV -

State Auditor Glen Gainer has been honored by the Future Business Leaders of America–Phi Beta Lambda with the Honorary Life Member Award at its state leadership conference in Charleston.

In 2013, the FBLA-PBL and the State Auditor's Office launched an online stock market game for school chapters. The game is a peer-reviewed curriculum that has been adapted by WVSAO staff and approved by the West Virginia Department of Education. The West Virginia Online Stock Market Simulation is available online at www.wvsao.gov.

High school students from Marshall, Pleasants, Ritchie, Tyler and Wetzel counties researched, invested and managed a $100,000 mutual fund for five months. Teams presented their portfolios at the conference.

Students from the Mid-Ohio Valley Technical Institute won the top portfolio certificate, and the team from John Marshall High School won first place in the presentation competition. The top three presentations and top portfolio also won a cash award from FBLA through a grant from the investor protection trust.
