ATHENS, OH -

A man is dead after a two vehicle crash in Athens County, OH.

According to a news release issued by the Athens Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, it happened at 3:11 p.m. Saturday, April 12, on Stage Coach Road, about 1/10 of a mile north of Earvin Road.

The news release says that 54-year-old Mike Lewis Thomas, of Athens, OH, was driving a 2001 Suzuki motorcycle going northbound on Stage Coach Road, in which he struck an oncoming 2006 Toyota Sienna, that was driven by 46-year-old Cheryl W. Vanhook, also of Athens, OH.

Thomas was taken to the O'Bleness Hospital in Athens, where he was pronounced dead.  Vanhook did not suffer any injuries.

According to the news release, Thomas was not wearing a helmet, however, alcohol is not being suspected as a factor in the vehicle crash.

The Athens Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol are investigating.
