A Detroit man has been arrested on felony drug charges in connection with an ongoing investigation of a residence in the 200 block of Rotary Road in Huntington, authorities report.

Antonio Shadwick, aka "Eastside," 31, was charged Monday, April 14, with felony delivery of a controlled substance and driving on a suspended license, they said.

In recent months the Huntington Police Department's Special Emphasis Unit has received numerous calls from residents concerned with excessive foot and vehicle traffic at 249 Rotary Road, police said. . They obtained an arrest warrant for Shadwick after conducting surveillance at the residence and allegedly observing activity consistent with drug trafficking.

Shadwick was spotted leaving the residence in a dark blue SUV Monday and was taken into custody by West Virginia State Police a short time later after a traffic stop, police said.

Following his arrest the Special Emphasis Unit and the Huntington Violent Crime Federal Drug Task Force executed a search warrant at the residence, finding a 17-year-old female and a 5-month-old child inside as well as heroin, marijuana, several thousands of dollars in cash and a handgun.

Child Protective Services was contacted and the female and child were placed in the custody of their parents.

Huntington Police Capt. Rocky Johnson said further investigation will be necessary. Due to Shadwick's criminal record, which includes felony convictions, Johnson said federal charges could be filed. Also factoring into the investigation is the alleged sale of drugs within 500 feet of a school and the presence of children, Johnson said.

Additional arrests are anticipated, he said, and code enforcement officers will be contacted for a follow-up investigation with the property owner because of unsanitary conditions inside the residence.
