LATEST: Divers locate vehicle discovered in Ohio River in Mason County, WV

According to Lt. Shawn Ross with the Point Pleasant Police Department, a vehicle, which was an SUV, was recovered from the Ohio River at 4 p.m. Thursday, April 17.

The search continued at 11:30 Thursday morning, in which WV State Police divers were able to hook onto the SUV, and it was pulled out by a tow truck.

Ross told 13 News that no one was in the vehicle, but that it was stolen.

The investigation is ongoing, and arrests are pending.

The Point Pleasant Police Department was assisted by the WV State Police, Gallia County Sheriff's Office, the Point Pleasant Volunteer Fire Department, and the Gallipolis Volunteer Fire Department.



After a barge worker spotted a sliver or white car submerged in the Ohio River, sonar located a "large object" near Point Pleasant, WV.

Divers are searching the river for the object.

The US Coast Guard, Gallia County Sheriff's Office, Mason County Sheriff's Office and the Gallipolis Fire Dept. are on scene.



A barge worker said he saw what he claims was a vehicle floating in the Ohio River.

Emergency crews located a "mass" in the water using a sonar.
