CHARLESTON, WV -

UPDATE:

Two people are recovering in the hospital Wednesday morning following a bizarre fight Tuesday night.

Charleston police said one of the individuals is facing felony charges once he is released.

According to police, Steven Allen Clay, 39 of Yawkey, will be charged with burglary and destruction of property.

Witnesses said they saw Clay kick in the door of a home on the 800-block of South Ruffner Road and assault the people inside.  After that, he got into an SUV and repeatedly rammed the vehicle into the side of the house and into another vehicle nearby, police said.

The vehicle caught on fire and the fire spread to the house, police said.  Clay then ran away from the scene with his mom, who was also in the vehicle, they said.

The pair was caught a short time later.  They were taken to the hospital but expected to be okay.

No one was seriously injured in the altercation, police said.

Firefighters were able to get the blaze under control.

Police are still looking into what sparked the fight to begin with, they said.
