The West Virginia Division of Forestry has cited a Tucker County woman in connection to a brush fire.

Multiple area fire departments responded to a report of a brush fire on the top of Bruni Mountain Road just before 1 p.m. Sunday.  Firefighters were able to contain the fire to a couple of acres and extinguished the fire before it reached a nearby home.

The W.Va. Division of Natural Resource officer cited the landowner for burning during a prohibited period and for allowing the fire to escape, said Public Information Officer Leslie Smithson.  Firefighters from Thomas, Davis, Leading Creek, Elkins and Parsons responded to the fire.

Burning is prohibited in W.Va. between the hours 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
