According to a news release issued by U. S Attorney Booth Goodwin Connie Lynn Whitley, 52, of South Point, OH admitted to stealing $150,000 from a United States Department for Housing and Urban Development (HUD) subsidized apartment complex she managed.

Whitley was the manager of the Uptowner's Inn, a public housing complex in Huntington, WV. HUD provided federal funds to pay a portion of the rent at the apartments for qualifying tenants, according to the same news release.

In the summer of 2009 Whitley began writing checks to herself from the apartment's HUD accounts. She continued to do this until the summer of 2013.

Whitley will be sentenced in July of 2014. She could face a maximum sentence of up to ten years in prison, according to the same news release.
