    A man was shot in the hand during a robbery on Charleston's east end on July 22 at about 10:30 a.m.

HUNTINGTON, WV - Marshall University Athletic Director Mike Hamrick confirmed via Twitter Thursday that Dan D'Antoni will take over as Marshall's head basketball coach beginning immediately.

D'Antoni replaces Tom Herrion who resigned from the head coaching position on March 14, 2014.

D'Antoni has served as an assistant coach with the NBA's Los Angeles Lakers since 2012. Dan's brother, Mike, is currently the Lakers' head coach.

Dan D'Antoni played point guard for Marshall from 1968-70 and is a Marshall University Athletics Hall of Famer.

He is also a native of Mullens, WV.

An official press conference is scheduled to take place Friday afternoon.
