A Morgantown bar will pay $500,000 to the family of a deceased West Virginia University student.

Sean Rascoe died from head trauma in February 2010, after he jumped onto an SUV while it was moving in the Mountainlair parking garage and struck his head on a pipe.

Rascoe's family filed a wrongful death lawsuit against the owners of Karma Nightclub, D&R Bars, LLC, claiming the bar over served Rascoe that night. He was also underage.

The settlement filed in Monongalia County Circuit Court shows that Rascoe's family and D&R Bars, LLC settled the matter out of court.

The driver of the SUV, Jeffrey Rifkin, was convicted of driving under the influence and sentenced to 30 days in prison.

D&R Bars, LLC closed Karma in May of 2012, and opened a new bar called Lux that same month. It also closed in January 2013 and the state revoked their business license that same year, according to records from the Secretary of State.
