Monongalia County Circuit Judge Russell Clawges has sentenced Jerod Green on charges stemming from the night he killed Monongalia County Sheriff's Department Sgt. Todd May in February 2012.

Judge Clawges sentenced Green to 1 to 3 years on a DUI third offense charge, 3 to 10 years for fleeing an officer causing injury, and 1 to 5 years for fleeing with reckless indifference.  Green had pleaded guilty to the charges in April 2014.  Judge Clawges ordered that the sentence run consecutively for a total of 5 to 18 years in prison, in addition to running consecutively with Green's 25 to 50 year Pennsylvania sentence.

Sgt. May died when Green's pickup truck slammed into his cruiser at more than 90 miles an hour along I-79 in Greene County, Pennsylvania, just over the state line.

May was along the highway that night because Green sped away from a traffic stop in Monongalia County, dragging one of the deputies a short distance, then led several deputies and other officers on a high-speed chase through back roads into Pennsylvania.

Green was also ordered to pay $4,000 in fines.
