Company Unveils Plan For 200+ School Enrollment This September

NEW YORK, May 15, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- STOPit, an anti-cyberbullying program which provides schools with a mobile app that allows victims and witnesses to anonymously report incidents, hosting cybersafe rallies as well as inspirational posters, announced today that Ann Street School, a 2013 JerseyCAN top 10 rated school, will be the 15th to roll out the platform since its inception in January. The company also announced over 200 schools, representing approximately 120,000 students across the U.S., are planning to implement STOPit in September for the 2014-2015 academic year.

To raise the funds needed to implement the program, Ann Street School will host a "Nut Day," allowing their 1,400 students to wear street clothes rather than their designated uniforms in return for a $2 donation.  To kick off the program, STOPit will conduct an interactive cyber-safety rally at Ann Street School on May 19th.

"STOPit will assist us in strengthening our school's anti-bullying campaign. Furthermore, this app will provide students with another example of how pressing the delete button will not erase nor protect them from repercussions," says Linda Richardson, Principal of Ann Street School.

With Instagram, SnapChat, Yik Yak, Twitter and additional social media platforms putting children at risk, STOPit takes a four-pronged approach to stomp out cyberbullying using various customizable features for each individual child. These functionalities consist of The STOPit button: "Stand Tall Tell All," The HELPit button: "A Shoulder to Lean On," The FRIENDit button: "Always Anonymous Upstander," and the The REPORTit button: "Secure Protection."

"Over the past few months we have seen huge adoption of STOPit from schools around the country and we're thrilled to see a behavioral difference amongst the students. The platform places power back in children's hands and is proving to curb the epidemic, which is its sole purpose," stated Todd Schobel, Founder of STOPit. "Our team is currently working with school districts and getting the platform ready for our biggest adoption this September."

The company is seeing significant reductions in Harassment Intimidation and Bullying (HIB) reports in client school districts. The deterrent factor alone has helped both students and staff to proactively curtail the epidemic.

"STOPit has allowed our district to be proactive in dealing with incidents of harassment and bullying.  I have seen an 83% decrease in HIB Reports submitted to my office since we unrolled this program," says Brian Luciani, Principal of David Brearley Middle and High School in Kenilworth, NJ. "STOPit gives our students ownership and control over situations that previously felt unmanageable. The online component facilitates anonymity for those students that would have hesitated for fear of reprisal."
