Bicycle Build-Off volunteer project supports The Union League Boys and Girls Club

CHICAGO, May 16, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Trend Micro Incorporated (TYO: 4704; TSE: 4704), a global pioneer in security software, today announced its participation in a community service bicycle building workshop benefitting The Union League Boys and Girls Club in Chicago on May 16. Trend Micro employee volunteers, partners and customers will assemble and donate bicycles for underprivileged children.

"Trend Micro is deeply committed to supporting local communities and this program is an excellent way to give back," said Wael Mohamed, COO, Trend Micro. "Knowing that our work will help reward and encourage children is extra motivation, and we couldn't be happier to help. This workshop provides us with the opportunity to do something positive, while building a sense of camaraderie among our team. It's a true win-win!"

In cooperation with the "Bicycle Build-Off" program, the bicycles assembled by Trend Micro employees, partners and customers will go directly to members of the Barreto Club within The Union League Boys and Girls club. Located in Chicago's Pilsen neighborhood, the group encourages children to pursue good behavior and academic success, while demonstrating strong character, citizenship and healthy lifestyles. Exemplary members who have achieved improved grades and behavior will be awarded with the bicycles.

The Union League Boys and Girls Club of America has six locations throughout the Chicago area and serves more than 11,000 children per year. Its mission is to promote the social, moral, vocational, physical and educational development of boys and girls in Chicago.
