Weirton Man Buys $1 Million Winning Lottery Ticket
A Weirton man is $1 million richer after buying a winning lottery ticket at the Convenient Store on Pennsylvania Avenue.
Store owner Paula Haggerty said the man, who wishes to remain anonymous, came in to buy the Powerball ticket Saturday afternoon, letting the machine randomly pick his numbers. Haggerty said,
"He came in Saturday to play and the sales clerk told him to go home and check his tickets and he came back. He is the winner we know, but he wants to make sure about everything before he comes in and claims it."
Haggerty said the owner of the winning ticket is "a hard working man, has a family and deserves to win the money."
