One man dead in house fire in Jefferson, WV

JEFFERSON, WV - One man is dead after a house fire occurred in Jefferson, WV.

According to Dan Taafe, Assistant Fire Chief of the Jefferson Volunteer Fire Department who responded to the scene, it happened at 3:28 a.m. Saturday, June 7, at 111 Hampshire Drive.

Taafe says one elderly man died in the fire.  The victim's name is not yet known.

No other injuries were reported.  Taafe says the house is considered a total loss.

The cause of the fire is being investigated by the WV State Fire Marshal's Office.

Along with the Jefferson Volunteer Fire Department, both the Lakewood and West Side volunteer fire departments responded, along with the Kanawha County Sheriff's Office.
