BOONE COUNTY, WV - UPDATE - Russie Evans has been released from the hospital and is at home recovering from her injuries. She still has medical procedures that need to be done until she can fully recover.

A man is in jail after running over a woman during a dispute in Boone County, WV.

According to Trooper C.A. Douglas with the West Virginia State Police Boone Detachment, who was the arresting officer, 20-year-old Jesse Braden Spurlock was arrested Thursday, June 5, and was charged with unlawful assault, failure to report an accident, and leaving the scene of an accident with an injury.

Trooper Douglas says that according to witness reports, at about 7:20 p.m. Thursday, Spurlock had a verbal and physical dispute with Russie Evans at a residence at the Ventrue Mitchell's Trailer Park, located on Newport Road, in Danville.

Witnesses say the dispute continued outside the residence in which Spurlock got into his truck to drive away, and Evans followed him out to confront him.  During the confrontation, her arm got stuck in the window of the truck, in which Spurlock dragged her roughly 100 yards before she fell to the ground, when Spurlock ran over her once driving away from the scene.

Evans was taken to CAMC General Hospital, where Douglas says she is in stable condition.

Trooper Douglas also says that through witness reports, he was later able to find Spurlock at his parent's residence on Lick Creek Road near the WVSP Boone Detachment's headquarters and arrested him, with assistance from Troopers McClung and Boyles.

Spurlock was taken to the Southwestern Regional Jail, where he is being held on a $30,000 bond.
