Man arrested after shooting neighbor in Mingo County, WV

DELBARTON, WV - UPDATE:
According to the West Virginia State Police Williamson Detachment, 68-year-old Ronald Hall, of Delbarton, is in critical condition after being shot in the back by a neighbor, 70-year-old Curtis Marcum, also of Delbarton.

Police say that an ongoing dispute between the two resulted in Marcum driving by Hall's residence, in which he fired two shots from a 357 Magnum, one shot hitting Hall in the back.

Police quickly responded to the scene, in which Marcum was arrested and was charged with attempted murder.

Marcum is being held at the Southwestern Regional Jail on a $100,000 bond.

Hall is listed in critical condition at the Pikeville Medical Center in Pike County, KY.

A man is in the hospital after being shot in Mingo County, WV.

According to 911 dispatchers, the call came in at around 4:30 p.m. Thursday, June 12, of a man down in the roadway near the Bank Of Mingo, on Route 65 in Delbarton.

According to Trooper Matheny with the West Virginia State Police Williamson Detachment, who is investigating the case, when the Delbarton Police Department arrived, who were the first ones on the scene, they found a man in his late 60's with a pistol wound to the back.  He was initially taken to Williamson Memorial Hospital, but was later transferred to the Pikeville Medical Center in Pike County, KY.  His injuries are not yet known. 

Trooper Matheny says that before the victim was taken to the hospital, he gave police the name and description of the shooter, who Matheny is only saying is in his early 70's. 

Matheny says a suspect is in custody, and that the investigation is ongoing by the West Virginia State Police Williamson Detachment.
