Fire destroys two homes and a garage in Lincoln County, WV

LINCOLN COUNTY, WV - Two homes and a garage were destroyed as the result of a fire in Lincoln County, WV.

Dispatchers say it happened in the area of 49 Tressel Road, near Alum Creek, shortly before 6 p.m. Saturday, June 14.

According to the scene commander of the Alum Creek Volunteer Fire Department, who responded to the scene, the fire started in the garage, which spread to two homes.

There was also ammunition that was going off inside at least one of the homes, in which fire fighters were pulled back.

Everyone living in the homes got out safely and were not injured, however, a few pets were killed in the fire.

The cause of the fire is not yet known.

Dispatchers say railroad traffic in this area was shut down while crews battled the fire, but have since cleared.

Along with the Alum Creek Volunteer Fire Department, the Davis Creek, Morrisvale, and Duval volunteer fire departments responded to the fire.
