FestivAll in Charleston, WV to affect weekend traffic patterns

FestivAll kicks off in Charleston, West Virginia this weekend and like previous years several streets will be closed during the event.

The downtown stretch of Kanawha Boulevard will be closed from Friday evening until Saturday evening. Live on the Levee will take place on Friday and the Smoke on the Water Chili Cookoff goes through Saturday.

The Run for Your Life event will affect traffic on Court Street, Piedmont Road and Farnsworth Drive for about two hours on Saturday morning. The 5-mile race and 2.5-mile walk follows those streets and drivers can expect delays between 8 and 10 a.m.

The FestivAll Art Parade begins at 10 a.m. will also affect traffic in the downtown area. The staging area for the parade is on Kanawha Boulevard between Capitol and McFarland streets. There will be delays at every Capitol Street intersection between Kanawha Boulevard and Smith Street during the parade. The parade is expected to last about 45 minutes.

On Saturday and Sunday, the West Side Weiner Dog Races and Ice Cream Social Sunday will close Mathews and Park avenues on both sides of Stonewall Jackson Middle School. The street will close at 7 a.m. Saturday and remain closed until after the events on Sunday.
