CHARLESTON, WV -

Friday was a big day for a Sissonville, WV man who survived an unthinkable attack.

Jimmy Beasley was ambushed and shot more than a dozen times outside a Charleston, WV bar where he was working as a bouncer.

While he fought for his life, police arrested George Sawyer and Tasheem Collins in connection with the incident.

That was two months ago.

Friday morning Jimmy Beasley got the all clear from doctors to leave the hospital.

"He has been telling them every day that he was going home whether they liked it or not," said family friend Shaun Dearien.

Dearien was among several other friends and family outside the hospital when Beasley got in the car.

His ride home wasn't a quiet one though.

Dozens of bikers escorted him home. It was a gesture they said was fitting for someone who has inspired so many.

"We are here to show him our love for him not only as a soldier but also as friend and a keeper of the streets," said Ronald Carpenter.

After two months in the hospital Beasley's friends had to form an assembly line to carry all of his belongings inside.

"I think it is just senselessness of what happened that just really brought a lot of people together," Beasley's wife Donna said.

Beasley will continue physical therapy at home. He still has a long road ahead but is staying positive and hopeful.
