The NGI HRA has been undergoing testing and process validation at Gas Technology Institute (GTI) since 2013.
Covington, Louisiana (PRWEB) June 25, 2014
New Gas Industries, LLC (NGI) announces the next phase of development of its Home Refueling Apparatus (HRA) for NGVs. The NGI HRA has been undergoing testing and process validation at Gas Technology Institute (GTI) since 2013. Testing has been funded by Utilization Technology Development, NFPa collaboration of natural gas local distribution companies at the forefront of research, development, and deployment for end-use equipment and appliancesto help identify near-term opportunities to introduce a new cost-effective and reliable HRA product into the North American marketplace.
The NGI technology demonstrated expected performance during testing. It shows promise for attractive economics and is scalable for small fleet applications, said Tony Lindsay, GTIs R&D Director, End Use Solutions.
According to Harry Bruns, NGIs Manager of Operations, the solution will provide significant cost and operational efficiencies. Testing has validated a process by which we believe we can deliver up to 80 gasoline gallon equivalent (GGE) per week in the home utilizing only a 1 HP compressor that requires just a standard household power supply of 110 volts, Bruns said. Furthermore, we plan to scale up the technology to address the underserved market of fleets between 5 and 15 vehicles at a price point far more attractive than anything currently on the market.
Since the successful process validation using their current prototype, NGI has been working towards the certification of their HRA. At the same time, they are in the process of selecting a mass production manufacturer with the goal of bringing the HRA and small fleet units to market in 2015.
