Anchored by a long-term acreage dedication from American Energy — Woodford, Oklahoma City-based Tall Oak Midstream announced June 25 the company will build a natural gas gathering system in the Central Northern Oklahoma Woodford play.

Tall Oak acquired 60 miles of existing gathering pipeline from American Energy Partners affiliate AEW to establish the gathering process. AEW is supported by a total of $500 million in private equity commitments led by The Energy and Minerals Group, AEW’s management team and others.

The announcement comes just a week after EMG and AEP, which owns five play or strategy specific subsidiaries, including companies in the Marcellus and Utica shale plays, announced their joint formation of American Energy — Midstream on June 18.

“It’s a very exciting time to be working in the Mid-Continent,” said Ryan Lewellyn, Tall Oak CEO. “Drilling and production schedules continue to climb, and the long-term outlook for the CNOW play is very positive. We are excited about this opportunity and focused on providing AEW and other producers in the area a near-term solution with reliable access to multiple markets.”

The system will serve multiple producers including the Mississippi Lime, Woodford Shale and Cleveland formations. The initial CNOW system will include a 250-mile, low-pressure gas gathering system.
