Lanes of Interstate 79 back open after accident

All lanes of Interstate 79 are back open after a morning accident.  

According to Kanawha County dispatchers, a truck with a trailer that was carrying two cars overturned near mile marker 1, the Mink Shoals exit.


An early-morning accident on I-79 in Kanawha County has closed both southbound lanes near mile marker 1, which is the Mink Shoals exit.

According to emergency dispatchers, the accident happened at about 2 a.m. on Thursday morning, August 7.

No injuries are being reported.

Dispatchers tell 13 News that the accident involved a truck and a trailer hauling cars.

No word on when those lanes of traffic will reopen, but crews are on scene diverting traffic.  

Vehicles can enter or exit at the Big Chimney exit of Interstate 79,  travel along Pennsylvania Avenue, and enter or exit at the Mink Shoals exit.
