The Buffalo Bison from Putnam County, West Virginia has gathered a herd of state softball championships, earning four consecutive rings, and now, the Lady Bison are swinging for a fifth.
Hannah Parkins, a junior at Buffalo, said her team is getting pumped for game two of the state tournament.
“We are very excited and anxious to go into this game,” Parkins said. “We are just mainly focusing on our attitudes and making sure we stay up and excited all through out the game!”
The Lady Bison defeated Man 10-2 in the first round of the tournament. They go on to play against Wheeling Central tonight at 7 p.m.
Parkins said the Wheeling Central matchup is new for this team as this will be a team the Bison have not seen this season. Wheeling Central defeated Pendleton County in the first round 7-0 earlier this afternoon.
In their win over Man, senior Ali Burdette smashed one over right field, not her own right field, but that of the next field over. The Lady Bison racked up 17 hits in that game.
Buffalo has won the last four consecutive state championships and the Lady Bison are keeping up the hype using the hashtag “#ringchasin” on their way to ring number five.
