One person is dead and another seriously injured after a high speed pursuit ends with a car going over an embankment.

The incident happened Sunday morning, June 28, on the 17th Street bridge in South Point, Ohio.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol say that the pursuit began on U.S. 52 at the end of the county line. The car turned onto the 17th Street bridge exit ramp when the driver lost control of the car, hit an embankment, then went airborne, hitting a light pole and rolling down a side embankment and creek next to County Road One.

Multiple crews responded, trying to get the two out of the car.

Crews had to close the 17th Street bridge exit ramp to Chesapeake while they pulled the car out from the embankment.

One person died at the scene and the other was taken to St. Mary’s Hospital with serious injuries. Their names have not been released.
