has been found to have the highest rate of fatal cancer, according to the most recent data from the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC).  

The

Bluegrass State

ranked number one in cancer mortality with a rate of 211.7 per 100,000 people.

West Virginia

topped at number four with a rate of 203.6 per 100,000 people.

Based on information obtained by the CDC, states with the worst scores also have high rates of lung cancer and poverty, suggesting that a combination of lifelong smoking and inadequate health care takes a toll.
