UPDATE: Candlelight Vigil in Maryland for Baby Emmaleigh


UPDATE: 10:16 10/7/16 p.m.

According to WJZ reporter Avajoye Burnett there was a vigil in Maryland Friday night in honor of Emmaleigh.

People in the crowd comforted the mother of the child.


Court Appointed Special Advocates of Jackson County is holding a candlelight vigil to honor Emmaleigh Barringer, the infant girl that died this week after being sexually assaulted.

The vigil is scheduled for 7:00 PM Monday, October 10th, 2016 at the Jackson County Courthouse Grounds in Ripley, WV.

The following people will speak at the vigil:

  • Reverend Matthew Ash, Senior Pastor – Parchment Valley Church in Ripley
  • Grace Stewart, Director of Program Services – West Virginia Child Advocacy Network
  • Associate Pastor Stephanie Castle – Ripley Church of the Nazarene
  • Kathie King, Director – CASA of the 5th Judicial Circuit of Jackson County

Pastor Mark Gerstell of the First Baptist Church of Ravenswood will be the MC of the vigil.

Organizers have reached out to the family of Emmaleigh to be a part of the vigil and are waiting on a response at this time.
