Haley Kosik is excited and honored to have the opportunity to tell your stories across the tristate region as a multimedia journalist for 13 News.
She joins us from the Land of Lincoln, priding herself as a born and raised “flatlander” now running around the Mountain State with camera and tripod in hand.
Graduating from Illinois State University, Haley received her Dual B.S. in Journalism and Political Science.
Her love for journalism began in high school when she joined its student newspaper. In college, she was a reporter/anchor/producer for ISU’s student television station, TV-10 News.
The summer between her junior and senior year was spent at WOWK’s sister station, ABC27 in Harrisburg, PA.
Haley had the opportunity to cover the 2016 Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia, reporting from inside Wells Fargo Center. She has also worked alongside Illinois lawmakers, including Congresswoman Cheri Bustos (D-IL) and former-Governor Bruce Rauner (R) on his re-election campaign.
Haley has been recognized for her reporting thus far, receiving a student-Emmy nomination and awarded ‘2017 Outstanding Hard Television News Program’ by the Illinois News Broadcasters Association and ‘2016 Best Radio News Story’ from the Illinois Broadcasters Association.
Haley is a proud member of the National Press Photographers Association and is always striving to better her storytelling craft to deliver impactful stories to her viewers.
Outside of the newsroom, she’s most likely trying local food, working out and venturing throughout West Virginia (her favorite so far is Seneca Rocks).
