Monica Starks was born and raised in Charleston, West Virginia with journalism running through her genes.
After graduating from West Virginia State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Communications, she went on to receive her Master’s degree in Media Studies. Being an active member of the PRSSA throughout her college years, Monica was also the sports broadcast journalist for the WVSU campus television show, “The Coaches Corner.”

Her parents worked and supported each other with the newspaper and then worked again as a team creating Multi-Fest in 1990.
