Arrest made following fatal Franklin Furnace shooting

SCIOTO COUNTY, OH (WOWK) — The Scioto County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a fatal shooting that happened in Franklin Furnace, Ohio, on Saturday, Oct. 2, 2021.

According to the sheriff’s office, dispatchers received a call saying a man had fallen and had a possible head injury on Tylers Way. The Green Township Ambulance responded and took the man to an emergency room in Ironton.

EMS learned the man had a gunshot wound and the Scioto County Sheriff’s Office began an investigation.

The shooting victim was identified by law enforcement as Charles G. Cremeans, 43, of Ironton, Ohio. He was transported to a hospital, where he died due to the injuries.

Deputies say Tracie Darby, age 53, of Franklin Furnace, Ohio has been arrested in connection to the case. Darby has been charged with one count of Tampering with Evidence, a felony of the 3rd degree and Obstructing Official Business, a misdemeanor of the 2nd degree.

Darby is currently being held in the Scioto County Jail without bond.
