The number of measles cases in the U.S. this year is at the second highest level in 25 years.

The Centers For Disease Control and Prevention is reporting 90 new cases of measles in the U.S.

That brings the number of cases this year to 595.

No fatalities have been reported in the U.S. from measles this year.

The World Health Organization is also reporting Monday that 110,000 measles cases were reported worldwide this year January to March.

That’s an increase of nearly 300% from the same period last year.

The CDC says in the U.S., the disease killed hundreds of people and hospitalized 48,000 each year, before the first measles vaccine became available in 1963.
