Commission and University Make Deal About Swimming Pool

News

Kanawha County Commission President Kent Carper said he has reached a deal with the University of Charleston to keep its pool open for at least the next six months.

For more than four decades, the UC pool has served youth swimming programs of the Kanawha Valley.

The University, which does not have a swimming program of its own, was planning to close the pool to make room for new locker rooms.

According to Carper, the deal is expected to cost the county around 20 thousand dollars.
