1 Man Arrested in West Side Fatal Shooting Back in West Virginia

Jayrionte Thomas has been transported to Charleston, West Virginia after being arrested in Detroit Michigan.

Thomas and Marcus Young are both facing first-degree murder charges in the death of Terrell Davenport in December of 2017.


UPDATE: 12/27/17 @ 8:45 p.m.

Charleston Police detectives tell 13 News that U.S. Marshals have arrested Jayrionte Thomas in Detroit, Michigan.

Thomas was wanted for his role in the December 14th shooting death of Terrell Davenport on Charleston’s West Side.

Marcus Young was also taken into custody by U.S. Marshals in Detroit last week. 

Both individuals were wanted for murder, malicious wounding, and wanton endangerment.


UPDATE: 12/22/17 @ 4:10 p.m.

One of the suspects in last week’s shooting on the west side of Charleston has been taken into custody.

Marcus Young was just taken into custody in Detroit, Michigan by US Marshals.


UPDATE: 12/15/17 @ 11:45 a.m.

Terrell Davenport has died as a result of the injuries he received during the shooting on the West Side of Charleston yesterday.

The charges on Jayrionte Thomas and Marcus Young have been upgraded to First Degree Murder.


UPDATE: 12/15/17 @ 9:15 a.m.

The Charleston Police Department has identified two suspects in the shooting of Terrell Davenport, that occurred on Thursday, December 14th, 2017 at the West Side Market and Deli in Charleston, WV.

Jayrionte Thomas, 18, of Detroit, Michigan and Marcus Young, 19, Detroit, Michigan have active warrants for Attempted Murder, Malicious Wounding, Wanton Endangerment.

Terrell Davenport is still in CAMC General Division and is listed in “grave” condition.

UPDATE: 12/14/17 @ 3:15 p.m.

The Charleston Police Department has identified the victim in today’s shooting on the West Side as Terrell Davenport, 27 of South Charleston.


UPDATE: 12/14/17 @ 1:45 p.m.

Detectives with the Charleston Police Department say that the shooting victim in this afternoon’s shooting on the West Side is in critical condition.

Detectives say the victim was shot four times, with numerous shots being fired both inside and outside the West Side Market and Deli after an altercation that began inside the store.

A passing vehicle was struck in the midst of the gunfire, but there were no injuries as a result of the vehicle being hit.

Detectives also say that two suspects fled in a red vehicle going east on 7th Avenue and north on Patrick Street before striking a telephone pole near the intersection of Washington Street West and Cliffview Avenue.

Police say one of the suspects was wearing a grey hooded sweatshirt, and the other was wearing a red hooded sweatshirt. 

We have a crew at the scene and will continue to update this story as soon as we receive new information.


ORIGINAL: 12/14/17 @ 12:45 p.m.

Dispatchers have confirmed that units are on scene of a shooting on Charleston’s west side. 

According to dispatchers, it happened near the West Side Market and Deli on 7th Avenue. 

At least one person was injured.

Two suspects fled the scene after the shooting, according to dispatchers. 

Police have K9 units searching the area.

The Charleston Police Department, Charleston Fire Department, Charleston EMS are responding.

We have a crew at the scene.
