Two Pennsylvania women have been arrested after police said they assaulted a pregnant woman and attempted to kidnap a two-year-old child in Morgantown.

On Saturday, April 27, officers with the Morgantown Police Department responded to a report of a disturbance on Pennsylvania Avenue in Morgantown. Officers said they arrived on scene and spoke to a pregnant woman who stated two women, accompanied by a six-year-old child, kicked in the front door of her residence and attacked her. Officers said these female suspects were later identified as Dominique Peebles and Sylvia Thornton, both 29, of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Officers said the victim attempted to call 911, but Peebles and Thornton took her cell phone. Officers then said the victim fell to the floor during the struggle and was kicked in her head and body by both Peebles and Thornton. Thornton then took the child while Peebles continued to assault the victim.

During the assault, the victim’s dog attacked Peebles, according to police. Officers said Peebles and Thornton took the six-year-old they brought with them and fled the area following the attack from the victim’s dog. Both suspects were seen leaving the area in a blue Mercury Mountaineer at a high rate of speed., according to police

Police then summoned EMS to the scene to tend to the pregnant victim who had been attacked.

Officers said they were able to locate Peebles and Thornton in Pittsburgh, where Peebles was seeking medical care for the injuries she sustained from the victim’s dog.
