Deputies: No Charges After Child Strikes Vehicle in Kanawha County


UPDATE: 3/14/18 @ 9:25 a.m.

Deputies say no charges are being issued following a child striking a vehicle in Rand.

Deputies report that a white SUV was traveling on Davidson Avenue in Rand, WV, passing through the intersection with Elaine Drive when a six year old child on a bicycle struck the passenger side of the SUV. 

Initially 911 calls were placed indicating a vehicle had struck a pedestrian child, but eyewitnesses were able to be located who provided a thorough account of the crash.

The SUV initially left the scene but was soon located. 

Witnesses said the vehicle was traveling safely and slowly through the intersection prior to and after the crash.

The driver of the SUV was not at fault for the crash. The child sustained minor injuries.

The child’s mother was nearby, outside monitoring other children, but allowed him to ride around the block on his bicycle when the crash occurred. 

Deputies say the investigation is concluded, and no citations were issued.

Kanawha County Sheriff’s Deputies say they are searching for a white SUV after a young child was struck in a hit and run.

Dispatchers tell 13 News that the child was struck by a vehicle in Rand, West Virginia.

It happened around 4 P.M. Near Davidson Avenue.

Deputies say the child sustained injuries to their face and was transported to a nearby hospital.

Deputies believe a white SUV was involved in the hit and run.

The Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office is investigating.
