UPDATE: Huntington police investigate armed robbery

UPDATE (3:56 p.m. on Wednesday, August 11): According to Huntington Police, detectives are investigating an armed robbery. It occurred around 8:00 a.m. on Wednesday at Smokie’s Smoke Shop in the 1400 block of U.S. 60.

One of the shop’s employees told police that a man produced a weapon and demanded money. The employees cooperated and gave the suspect money from the register.

Police say the suspect fled the scene. Officers with the Patrol Bureau, K-9 Unit and Detective Bureau attempted to find him. They say he is a male of an undetermined race with a lean build. He is said to be around 5’10”. His face was covered with a mask.

HUNTINGTON, WV (WOWK)—Cabell County Dispatch has confirmed an armed robbery took place in Huntington around 8:00 a.m. on Wednesday.

The robbery happened at Smokie’s Smoke Shop in Huntington. A suspect is said to have come into the store with a gun and told them to put money in a bag.

Huntington Police and West Virginia State Police are on the scene.
