A Fayette County man has been arrested for shooting a dog according to the Sheriff’s Department.
Lloyd Gill was arrested and charged with Animal Cruelty and Shooting Within 500 Feet of a Dwelling.
Fayette County deputies were dispatched to Stover Hollow Road in Scarbro on Sunday regarding a call of a dog that had been shot.
Deputies say Gill shot the dog, was on his front porch, in the chest with a handgun through a window, and the dog ran off.
Further findings show that the Gill and his pets were inside his home and not accessible by the dog outside, according to deputies.
Deputies located the owner of the dog, and they together located the dog, which was still alive. Deputy noted that the dog was friendly and approachable, even considering its injuries.
Deputies contacted a veterinarian willing to come out on Sunday to treat the wounded dog.
Gill was released on a $2,500 bond set by the Fayette County Magistrate’s Office.
The condition of the dog is unknown at this time.
